Batu Kawan Solar System

Batu Kawan is famous for it’s Sea Food where many throng in for delicious food, organizing parties /  events. Its through Batu Kawan where you have to hop  into ferry to visit Pulau Aman. Batu Kawan was a planned township under the BN era. With the Penang Bridge second link to be complete in a year time, many companies and individuals are moving in and investing over here.

Now the Penang state Government under the leadership of DAP & Lim Guan Eng, has approved the proposal to setup a new solar energy manufacturing site in Batu Kawan. Recently Bosch Malaysia Senior President, Holger Von Hebel announced the proposed RM 2.2 billion project. The groundbreaking which was expected at the last quarter of last year in a eighty six acre site. Operation to begin by end of 2013.

DAP Exco Phee Boon Poh insist that the project will not cause damage to human or environment, by stating that the International Energy Agency (EIA) and the Department of Environment (DOE) had endorse it. Why did the Pakatan leaders created a big hoo-haa when Lynas was approved by the same Government Agencies? If so, why was there a big protest & negative statement by DAP & Pakatan leaders on Lynas? Why is DAP being double standard?  When the members of the media posted question to Phee Boon Poh on a similar plant which was closed down in China due to health risk, Phee replied that he will check with the authority to ensure project safety.

Manufacturing of Photovoltaic would not only pollute the environment but effects the health of huma being.  Leave alone the manufacturing plant. The  solar energy provides environmental friendly power supply, but study shows there are health effects on human. High level radio frequency electromagnetic radiation components are often use for solar system, which poses health risks to those with electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS).

How about the environmental damage that might occur? How will the Government handle this. Dap has laud the ‘Cleaner & Greener Penan’, but did DAP itself uphold its initiative? It is understood in Zhejiang Province, China a similar plant had cause the fishing industry to a standstill. Batu Kawan is famous for its prawn & fish raring. Did DAP consulted those venturing these business around Batu Kawan & Pulau Aman?

There are many questions down the line. Will CM Lim Guan Eng answer all these from concern citizens who had voted in DAP during the last General Election. DAP should place the people’s interest above all. With many low cost houses planned in Batu Kawan, PCM hope DAP will walk the talk on placing the Rakyat’s interest above all.
